Alternative Fuel Sources for Our Vehicles

Whether you subscribe to the Global Warming theory or not, you can’t deny the fact that burning fossil fuels – like gasoline or diesel – damages the environment.  The emissions that are released into the air by burning oil-based products damage the air and the ozone as well. 

Using alternative fuel sources to power our vehicles, on the other hand, helps to reduce harmful emissions.  In fact, many alternative fuels – such as fuel cells and electricity – release no emissions at all.  So when we use alternative fuel sources for your automobile, we're helping the environment significantly.

Eighty-five percent of all harmful carbon dioxide that is released into the air comes from the burning of gasoline and diesel from car & truck engines.  This carbon dioxide that is released into the air damages the ozone and contributes to suspected global warming.  When we can reduce that carbon dioxide emission by using alternative fuel sources for our automobiles and trucks, we can make a huge difference in the world – not just in our own little part of it!

When it comes to powering our automobiles, there are actually many other alternative fuel sources available rather than gasoline.  Technology has come a long way since someone first developed ways to process oil to make gasoline so it could power the new internal combustion engine for cars.  In the face of today’s astronomical costs for gasoline and diesel fuel, you may want to seriously explore alternative fuel sources – and for many reasons!

    Of course many vehicles run on diesel fuel and the question that arises is: "do diesel vehicle owners have any alternative other than diesel fuel?"  Yes they do!  It’s called bio-diesel and it’s making a big splash in the fuel industry.

    Bio-diesel is the name of a clean-burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources. It contains no petroleum, but it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a bio-diesel blend. It can be used in compression-ignition (diesel) engines with little or no modifications. It is also fairly simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic, and it's essentially free of sulfur and aromatics.

The use of bio-diesel in a conventional diesel engine results in substantial reductions of unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter compared to the usual emissions from diesel fuel. In addition, the exhaust emissions of sulfur oxides and sulfates (major components of acid rain) from bio-diesel are essentially eliminated compared to regular diesel fuel.

The use of bio-diesel fuel as an alternative to petroleum-based fuel is really a step in the right direction when it comes to both environmental as well as monetary concerns.  It is safer, it burns cleaner, and it's easy to make. 

    It’s true that we are largely dependent on foreign oil in order to produce gasoline, diesel and home heating fuels.  Although the United States does have a certain amount of oil that we could be using, the fact is that we can’t get most of it due largely to environmental restrictions and animal rights proponents.  We just cannot currently produce enough of our own oil to meet the needs of PEOPLE. 

As more alternative fuel sources are being discovered and developed, it’s being proven that using these types of fuels in our vehicles will make us a self-sufficient nation.

    When we start to use domestically-produced alternative fuel sources for our cars and trucks, we are drawing on resources that are right here in the United States.  And those resources are renewable – like hydrogen, propane, ethanol, and even electricity! 

   The fact is that using alternative fuel sources to power our vehicles is a good choice all-around.  Not only are we reducing our dependence on foreign oil, but we are also helping the environment as well.  So explore alternative fuel sources for your own automobile.
